Life of Christ- Luke was a Gentile physician who liked music.

Luke was a Gentile.

Luke is the author of two New Testament books, his Gospel, and the book of Acts. In Acts we get some hints as to his identity.

There are certain sections of the book of Acts which are called the “we” sections (Acts 16:10–17; 20:5–15; 21:1–18; 27:1–37; 28:1-16. They are written in the first person. Luke was with Paul for key events in his ministry.

Both Luke and Acts are addressed to the Theophilus.

The beginning of Acts refers to a previous book by the same author.

The beginning of Luke refers to research that the author did to compile his Gospel. He was in Judea when Paul was in prison for two years in Caesarea around AD 60 (Acts 24:1-26:32). He would have had time to speak with those who remembered Jesus’ life 30 years earlier.

Luke was a physician.

In Colossians 4:14, a letter Paul wrote from a Roman prison he says that Luke, the beloved physician, sent his greeting to the readers.

Luke loved music.

Luke is the only Gospel that records the praise songs given at the birth of Jesus.

In Luke 1, beginning in verse 46, Mary praises God after hearing that she will give birth to the Messiah.

In Luke chapter one beginning at verse 67 John the Baptists father Zechariah praises God after the birth of his son.

In Luke chapter 2 he records the praise of the angels who appear to the shepherds before they go to see the miracle of Jesus birth in the nearby village of Bethlehem.

In Luke chapter 2 beginning in verse 29 we have the praise of Simeon who had been told he would not die before he saw Messiah. After his song of praise Simeon blessed Jesus’s parents and told them that Jesus would divide humanity and cause them great pain.

These words of praise are not recorded anyplace else.

In conclusion, Luke was a Gentile physician who loved music.
