How I Obtained this Book
This book was published on October 15. 2025.
I read early reviews and articles about the book and was impressed. I knew I would want this research tool.
I looked for the book on Amazon.com and only saw leather editions starting at around $45.00. I did not want that edition. It was a reference tool for me and not my Study Bible…only the New Testament.
I then did an internet search and saw that a hardcover edition of the book was available at the local Christianbook store for $19.29.
The book is published by Holman Bibles, part of Broadman-Holman Publishers, part of the Southern Baptist Convention. Christianbook stores are also part of the SBC. I called my local store and they had two copies but would not mail it to me.
On their website they said they will mail the books beginning May 5, 2026. The link above is the hardcover edition of the book at the Christianbook store.
I went to the store and purchase a copy around January 1, 2026.
I have never had this lack of supply for an edition I wanted happen before.
The companion volume, CSB Connecting Scripture Old Testament, Hardcover is planned for October 15, 2028 and will cost $44.99.
The Format
Each page has the biblical text in the center. On the outside of the page is a list of Old Testament passages quoted or alluded to in the verses. In the text various words are highlighted and the Old Testament quotes or allusions are commented on below.
Articles
There are fourteen articles on subjects from eschatology to Kingdom of God and prophet to creation and new creation. The are written by qualified scholars and placed in the text next to relevant passages
Other aids
There is an introduction to the volume and instructions on using this tool that are very helpful.
There are eleven tables covering topics such as messianic king and hearing the Old Testament in Acts. These tables are clear and illuminate topics covered in the adjacent passage.
There are short introductions to each book of the New Testament which give a short summary on how the book makes use of the Old Testament.
There are Old Testament and New Testament indices at the end which are very complete for allusions and quotes.
Criticism
There are 34 reviews on Amazon.com. 76% of them are 5 star reviews.
Some reviews have said the font is too small and the pages are too thin for highlighting. I use an NIV Study Bible and Greek and Hebrew testaments for study and take my notes with fine line ball point pens. I use 2.0 reading glasses and can read the fonts easily.
