Friday Thoughts: Charlie Kirk is dead. Is this a defining moment?

What are Defining Moments?

in the last week, I have read many dictionary entries and articles about Defining Moments. The following are contained in these definitions and descriptions.

Defining Moments are events that bring us into adult issues or ways of thinking for the first time.

Defining Moments are events that lead us to commit to a cause.

Defining Moments are events with different responses that divide a generation.

Defining Moments are events we always look back on as changing our lives.

Some Defining Moments:

9/11

The Reagan Presidency and assassination attempt

Woodstock

JFK’s assassination

The end of World War 2

Pearl Harbor

The 1930s

The Crash

The 1920s

The Lost Generation

The Assassination of Charlie Kirk?

Erika Kirk’s words after her husband’s death:

“You have no idea the fire that you have ignited within this wife, the cries of this widow will echo around the world like a battle cry,”

“To everyone listening tonight across America, the movement my husband built will not die. It won’t, I refuse to let that happen … All of us will refuse to let that happen. No one will ever forget my husband’s name, and I will make sure of it.”

Conclusions:

Charlie Kirk is dead. His assassination is and will become a defining moment for many people.

Will some start a chapter of his ministry?

Will some go into politics?

Will some go into Christian apologetics?

Will some commit to a lifetime of focussed study and writing?

These are not all of the possibilities but I am convinced this will change many Christians, Americans and people worldwide.

Reactions so far:

I have received dozens of comments about the assassination in the first week. The range of comments have been unbelievable. Some people have lost their jobs and some have sued others. Families have been divided. The is just a small sample of what I have read.
